Hannah has worked for me for two years. I hired her out of college and she wears many hats within the company. She helps with marketing, bookkeeping, logistics, and all things-administration.
She was recently recruited by Lockheed Martin and has accepted a role there as a Business Manager. It’s an amazing opportunity and a big step forward in her professional career!
But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little bit sad. We’ve become good friends and I rely on her for a lot. My business coach told me “that’s amazing….you should be happy for her!” I knew in my head he was right, but it took me a couple days to get there.
I felt a lot of different things for a few days…happy for her, sad for me, guilty for feeling sad, dread at the thought of finding a replacement….but I can honestly say the prevailing and true emotions are happiness for her and gratitude that she was on my team for a season. The dynamics of our relationship will change, but the relationship endures just the same.
So I guess the point of all this is to say that it’s important to cheer people on…whether they remain on our team or not…and even if it hurts just a little bit if they’re not 🙂
Best wishes and continued success to Hannah!
